Atlético de Madrid continue to prepare for the match against Athletic

Agüero, Tiago, Costa, Raúl García and Mario do alternative work

Atlético de Madrid continued to prepare for this Sunday’s match against Athletic. For the third consecutive day, the ‘rojiblancos’ held a late afternoon training session due to the intense cold that is leaving the training pitches at the Majadahonda Sports Complex in poor conditions. Thus, the Atlético de Madrid first squad practiced on Thursday evening for around 90 minutes.

Agüero, Tiago, Diego Costa, Raúl García and Mario Suárez did alternative work with Oscar Pitillas, the physical trainer/physiotherapist. Additionally, Emilio Álvarez, the goalkeeping coach, did specific work from the beginning with De Gea and Joel. Six Atlético de Madrid B players participated in the session: Sergio Marcos, Abel, Noguera, Saúl, Mínguez and Miramón. For his part, Diego Forlán started the session in the gym and then headed down to the pitch later to work at the same rhythm as his teammates.

The session on the normal training pitch had an open part and a closed part. In the first half of the training, Jordi García, the team physical trainer, took the reins of the session. He designed a physical circuit for all of the squad members, and then the players ran around the field for around 20 minutes. After this they played ball possession games, and the last part of the practice was held behind closed doors.
