Atlético de Madrid begin to work on Monday evening to get ready for Saturday’s derby

Koke, Pulido and Borja González don’t train, as they’re in camp with the Under-20s

Atlético de Madrid returned to work on Monday afternoon at the Majadahonda Sports Complex to begin to prepare for this coming Saturday’s clash with Real Madrid. The ‘rojiblanco’ players held a session which lasted two hours and with the absences of Borja González, Pulido and Koke, who are in camp with the Under-20 Spanish national team until Wednesday in the lead-up to the World Cup in this age group which is to be held in Colombia this summer.

Three players from Atlético B players, Atienza, Gallegos and Vítor, practiced with the first squad on Monday, and were joined by Atlético C goalkeeper Celso, who will play with the reserves from now on due to the injury to Andrés Muñoz, who is set to undergo shoulder surgery.

After the traditional warm-up, Quique Sánchez Flores’ players carried out ball possession drills with goalkeepers and then moved into technical-tactical work. Afterwards, the group was divided into two, with those who were starters in Almería exercising at a lighter pace, while the rest played several small-sided matches.
