Atlético de Madrid and Mahou San Miguel have agreed to extend our alliance until 2035
The drinks company is the first official sponsor of the Ciudad del Deporte, which will be built around the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
Atlético de Madrid and Mahou San Miguel have agreed to extend their alliance until 2035, renewing the sponsorship agreement that the beverage and services company maintains through its brands Mahou Cinco Estrellas and Solán de Cabras. Additionally, the country’s leading beer company becomes the first official sponsor of the future Ciudad del Deporte, which will be built around the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
Both agreements were carried out at an event on Monday 24th March at the stadium, in an event attended by our President, Enrique Cerezo; our CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil; CEO of Mahou San Miguel, Eduardo Petrossi; the general director of Revenue and Operations at Atlético de Madrid, Óscar Mayo; the general director of the Spain Business Unit at Mahou San Miguel, Peio Arbeloa; and the general director of Marketing for the brewery, Emmanuel Pouey.
Our President, Enrique Cerezo explained; “An alliance between Atlético de Madrid and Mahou San Miguel which goes beyond sponsorship, was born more than 50 years ago. It is an historic relationship built on trust and mutual respect. Mahou has been by our side for many years at the Estadio Vicente Calderón, demonstrating trust and compromise. We have been together during the good times and the bad and, without a doubt, they have been part of the rojiblanca family for a long time.”
Eduardo Petrossi, the CEO of Mahou San Miguel, emphasised the tight link between both entities, as he said; “For years, we have been part of the same landscape, celebrating victories, sharing dreams and the pride that is transmitted from generation to generation”. Life is made up of intertwining encounters and stories. Some stories begin in an unexpected way and cannot be told separately because they come from the same place, beat to the same rhythm and share the same passion. This is the history of Madrid, of Atlético de Madrid and of Mahou San Miguel.”
Our CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil, expressed his gratitude to our historic sponsor, as he said; “Thank you for being by our side on this journey for many years. I think that, as a result of technology, we can create content and that, thanks to our facilities, we can offer experiences. The result of this development that we are aiding is that it allows us to be a different club, and always hand in hand with the Mahou San Miguel group.”
A performance from the musical group Sidecars closed the presentation perfectly, where a toast reaffirmed a friendship that dates back to the mid-20th century.
