Atlético begin the week with the absence of their international players
Agüero, Tiago and Mario Suárez do alternative work
Atlético de Madrid returned to training after this past Saturday’s loss to Barcelona. The ‘rojiblanco’ squad is looking at next Saturday’s fixture against Valencia as a vital match. The players are aware that they need a win against Unai Emery’s side and have begun the week knowing the importance of that clash.
Missing the session were the footballers who are in camp with their respective national teams. Therefore, Domínguez and De Gea are with the Under-21 Spanish National Team, Elías with the Brazilian National Squad, and Perea with Colombia, which will take on the Spanish National Team on Wednesday in a friendly. For his part, Filipe Luis didn’t train due to injury. Also out was Tomas Ujfalusi, who headed to his country with the Club’s permission.
The practice, which lasted a bit over two hours, included the presence of Miramón, Hermosa, Regalón, Andrés Llorián, Joseph and Vitor, from Atlético de Madrid B. Also present were goalkeepers Hueto (Atlético de Madrid Juvenil División de Honor) and Jesús (Atlético de Madrid C). Sergio Agüero, Mario Suárez and Tiago did alternative work apart from the group. They started the session in the gym and then took the pitch with Óscar Pitillas and completed various exercises.
The rest of the squad members began the session with aerobic work and then moved into possession games with goalkeepers. Afterwards, Quique Sánchez Flores divided the group into two. While one half did technical-tactical work, the other worked on finishing. Then the two groups switched. To finish, the training was wrapped up with modified practice matches.
