Atleti are the 2020/21 LaLiga champions thanks to our 2-1 win at Valladolid. It’s our 11th league title after our 1939/40, 1940/41, 1949/50, 1950/51, 1965/66, 1969/70, 1972/73, 1976/77, 1995/96 and 2013/14 successes.
All of those titles – except for our 1976/77 success – were won in the final fixture. This time was no different, and the three points we picked up on Saturday allowed us to clinch the title with 86 points. However, it’s the fewest goals we’ve conceded (25) out of all the seasons in which we have won the league. Our defensive record also earned Jan Oblak his fifth Zamora Trophy. Truly exceptional numbers.

With this success, Simeone has become the winningest coach in the club’s history with eight trophies, ahead of Luis Aragonés. The Argentine is also the only manager to have won the league twice along with Ricardo Zamora and Helenio Herrera.
