Atleti earned a 2-0 win against AS Monaco on Wednesday night at the Wanda Metropolitano thanks to goals by Koke and Griezmann. With these three points, our team has qualified for the Champions League Last 16. Radamel Falcao was paid tribute before the match.
Our team started the game in the best way possible. Koke took a shot from outside the box, the ball was deflected and the ball went into the back of the net. Atleti were 1-0 up after just two minutes.
But our team didn't stop there. We kept attacking and Griezmann scored the second in the 25th minute. The assist was courtesy of Correa following a great play by the Argentine inside AS Monaco's box.
Vitolo came on for Koke at half-time, as our team looked to keep up the phenomenal attacking display from the first 45 minutes. A few minutes later, Falcao came on for AS Monaco, preceded by a magnificent ovation from the Wanda Metropolitano. The Colombian striker had been presented a framed photograph of his time at our club by Adelardo and Godín before the match.
The intensity of the game decreased in the second half, although both teams had chances to score. AS Monaco were awarded a penalty in the 82nd minute, but Falcao's shot went wide.
The match ended 2-0 and Atleti have qualified for the Champions League Last 16.
