Our team lost 2-0 at Eibar on Saturday.
Atleti lost 2-0 at Eibar on Saturday in LaLiga.
It was a rainy night in the Basque Country and things didn’t start as planned, since the hosts took the lead through a corner 10 minutes into the game. Joao Félix answered with a left-foot strike from outside the box that was saved by Dmitrovic. In fact, our team began to improve and put Eibar’s defence under pressure following a strong start from Mendilibar’s men. Correa headed the ball just wide following a cross from Vitolo in what was our biggest chance of the opening 45 minutes. Joao Félix was very dynamic and had a couple of shots on goal before the break. However, we reached half-time with a one goal deficit.
Atleti attacked the hosts and had several chances inside the first 10 minutes of the second half. Arias volleyed the ball wide and Ángel Correa also had a massive chance but was off target from close range. Eibar didn’t have any clear opportunities to double their lead, but for a while we also struggled to put pressure on Mendilibar’s defence. Simeone made the first substitution with 15 minutes to go as Herrera made way for Lodi. Saúl – who had been playing at left-back – moved up to midfield. Sergio Camello then came on for Joao Félix, and Óscar Clemente made his first team debut after taking Vitolo’s place in the dying minutes. However, the hosts doubled their lead in stoppage time and the game finished shortly thereafter.
