Atleti see out 2020 with win over Getafe
Our team beat Getafe 1-0 on Wednesday thanks to a goal from Luis Suárez.
Atleti earned a 1-0 win against Getafe at the Wanda Metropolitano in the last game of 2020. Suárez netted the winner.
We started the game well, collecting early chances and eventually took the lead 20’ into the game through the Uruguayan striker. It was a sensational header to put us in front. Suárez almost scored again five minutes later, but there were no more goals in the first half although we dominated throughout.
Getafe improved in the second half, and Simeone began to move things around. First, Saúl came on for Vrsaljko – who returned to action after several months. Lemar and Joao Félix later made way for Torreira and Correa as the visitors began to get closer to Oblak’s box. As a consequence, our coach brought Giménez on for Suárez in the final minutes of the game. We held on to our lead to see out 2020 with another win.
