CHAMPIONS LEAGUE | MATCH RECAP

Atleti lose 3-0 in Turin

Our team lost 3-0 against Juventus and were knocked out of the Champions League.

Atleti lost 3-0 at Juventus' Allianz Stadium on Tuesday and were knocked out of the Champions League.

The home side began the match aggressively given their two-goal deficit and with their fans behind them. Our team defended well during the first 20 minutes, and around that time we had our first chance of the game. Koke took a shot from outside the box but the ball went wide.

However, Juventus took the lead shortly thereafter. Bernardeschi crossed the ball and Ronaldo headed it on the far post. It wasn't good to news for our players, but they were able to react well to the goal. As the first half progressed, Atleti managed to dominate possession more and more. Just before the break we had our best chance, as Koke crossed the ball and Morata headed it just over the crossbar.

There were no good news for us at the beginning of the second half. Ronaldo headed the ball and Oblak made a great save, but goal-line technology said it had crossed the line. It was a tough call for our team as it meant that Juventus had evened the tie. Simeone decided to make the first substitution not long after, and Correa came on for Lemar.

Atleti improved as the second half progressed and started to have longer spells with the ball. Later on, Arias made way for Vitolo, which meant that Juanfran switched to right-back and Saúl to left-back.

A few minutes before the end of the game, Juventus were awarded a penalty. They converted it and the game ended 3-0.
