Atleti look to keep positive home streak going against Espanyol
On Sunday we will be facing a team that not only have scored twice as many goals away than at home, but have also earned all their points away from their stadium.
LaLiga returns to the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday following our midweek European clash as our team faces Espanyol. The matchday 13 game is to be played at 4 pm CET.
It will be the 157th league matchup between both clubs and the 79th at our stadium. We’ve only faced Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Club and Valencia more times than the Catalans.
Although Espanyol arrive at the game in 19th place, their results away from their stadium are positive. In fact, they have only lost two of their six away games, and all their eight points have been earned on the road. Moreover, they’ve also netted more goals away (four on the road, two at home). In their last match, which was played on Thursday, Pablo Machín’s side earned a big 6-0 win over Ludogorets in the Europa League.
On the other hand, Atleti are just one point off the league leaders, we’re the team that has conceded the least goals in LaLiga and we continue our fantastic streak at the Wanda Metropolitano. Since our new stadium was inaugurated, we’ve played 60 games and have only lost four. This season we’re yet to lose at home, where we warned a 2-0 win over Athletic Club in our last match.
