Atleti look to get back to winning ways in Mallorca
Our team gears up to face the Balearic side, who in two years have gone from the third to the top tier of Spanish football, on Wednesday at 7 pm CET.
Our first LaLiga midweek game of the season is here as Atleti travel to face Mallorca at 7 pm CET on Wednesday.
The home side are back in the Primera División after a seven-year absence, having hit a fantastic run of form in recent times that has seen the club move up from the third to the top tier of Spanish football in two seasons. Mallorca currently sit 16th in the LaLiga standings and have earned four out of a possible nine points at their stadium. In their last home match, they earned a 0-0 draw against current leaders Athletic Club.
Atleti and Mallorca met for the last time in the 2012/13 season, when they drew both games (0-0 at the Calderon and 1-1 at Son Moix). The record between both clubs currently stands at 22 wins for our team, 14 draws and 14 wins for the Balearic club.
Koke was a starter in both matches against Mallorca in the 2012/13 season. At the time, the Spaniard was a 20-year-old who was earning his spot in the starting XI. Seven years down the line, our midfielder is the sixth player with the most games in Atleti’s history (421) tied with Arteche, who he will surpass if he plays at Son Moix on Wednesday.
