Atleti kick off the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday as we take on Athletic Club in the semifinal. The game is to be played in Riyadh at 8pm CET.
Our team is unbeaten in 2022, having earned win over Rayo Majadahonda and Rayo Vallecano and a draw at Villarreal.
Athletic Club, who are ninth in the LaLiga standings with 28 points, are the current Spanish Super Cup champions. Marcelino’s side are also unbeaten in 2022 – thanks to a 3-1 win over Osasuna, a goalless draw against Alavés and a 2-0 success in the Copa del Rey at Mancha Real.
Atleti earned a spot in the Spanish Super Cup thanks to our LaLiga win, whereas the Basque side qualified after reaching the Copa del Rey final last season.
This will be the second time we face Athletic Club this season, following the 0-0 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sep. 18.
