Atleti kicked off the 2019/20 LaLiga season with a 1-0 win over Getafe on Sunday. Morata scored the winner at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Our team kicked off the game strongly, and after a few good chances took the lead around the 25-minute mark. Morata headed home a superb cross from Trippier. The Englishman was a constant threat down the right wing during the first 45 minutes. In the dying minutes of the first half, Jorge Molina and Lodi were sent off after two yellow cards.
In the second half, Atleti were awarded a penalty as Joao Félix was brought down inside the box following an extraordinary play. Morata took the penalty, but Soria made a great save. Simeone made all three changes in the following minutes, as Thomas Partey, Joao Félix and Lemar made way for Mario Hermoso, Llorente and Vitolo. Our team held on to the one-goal lead and we won the game in the end. The LaLiga season starts with Atleti earning all three points.
