Atleti drew 0-0 against Huesca at El Alcoraz on Huesca.

Suárez made his first start for our team as he partnered up front with Joao Félix. The hosts proved to be a very tough challenge, displaying defensive strength from the off. In fact, they had the first big chance of the game through Seoane, who headed the ball over the post from close range. Our team answered via a Joao Félix free-kick that flew over the crossbar. However, we struggled to break down Huesca’s well organised defence.

As a consequence, Simeone brought Correa on for Vitolo at half-time. We had our best chance yet early on as Llorente struck just over the crossbar following some Joao Félix magic. Thomas also tried his luck from outside the box, but was off target. Atleti kept pushing and had a big chance one hour into the game. Joao Félix produced a fantastic pass to Suárez, but the keeper denied the Uruguayan as the striker tried to go around him. It was our number nine’s last shot of the game as he was taken off alongside Llorente moments later. Carrasco and Costa were the men to come on. Joao Félix continued to display his inspired form and was inches away from scoring following some excellent footwork. Koke came on for Saúl and we continued to push and search for the winner. The chances kept coming as Felipe headed over from close range at first and then Joao Félix, once again, volleyed the ball from inside the box and the keeper saved it on the line. But although we pushed until the end, the match ultimately ended 0-0 as we picked up one away point.

Next up: Villarreal.
