Atleti handed first defeat of the season in San Sebastián
Our team lost 2-0 against Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Atleti were handed the first defeat of the season at Reale Arena on Saturday as Real Sociedad earned a 2-0 win.
It was an intense first half from both sides, with the home team collecting the first big chance of the game. Luckily for Atleti, though, Oblak was there to make a magnificent save and deny the one on one. Our team reacted quickly as Koke headed the ball just wide in what was our biggest chance of the first 45 minutes.
Llorente came on for Lemar after the break, and we had a good chance shortly thereafter. Trippier set up Joao Félix, but the striker’s shot went just wide. Correa came on for the Portuguese a few moments later. Unfortunately, in a three-minute window around the first hour mark, Real Sociedad scored twice to put us two goals down. It was a tough blow to take, and to make things worse Oblak had to be taken off the pitch after the second goal. Adán came on for the Slovenian. We had two great chances some 15 minutes before the end, but our former keeper Moyá made a fantastic double save to deny Vitolo and Giménez, and the game ended 2-0.
