MATCH PREVIEW | SEVILLA FC - ATLÉTICO DE MADRID

Atleti gear up for key game at Sevilla

LaLiga returns after the international break with a banger. Simeone’s men travel to Seville for an important fixture at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, which is to kick off at 9pm CET on Sunday.

The international break is over as Atleti gear up for a key LaLiga fixture at Sevilla. The game is to be played at 9pm CET on Sunday.

Lopetegui’s side are completing an excellent season as they’re currently fourth in the league with 45 points – 10 more than fifth-placed Real Sociedad. Sevilla therefore look set to qualify once again for the Champions League. This season, they reached the last 16 – in which they ultimately lost to Borussia Dortmund. As for the Copa del Rey, they almost made it to the final, but in the end were knocked out by FC Barcelona in extra-time in the competition’s semi-finals.

Nonetheless, the Andalusian teams have the third best home record in LaLiga – behind Atleti and Barcelona. In their last match, they drew against Valladolid as goalkeeper Bono scored the equaliser in stoppage time. As for Atleti, we earned a hard-fought win over Alavés thanks to Luis Suárez’s goal and Oblak’s late penalty save.

With 10 match days to go, every game is vital for our LaLiga aspirations. Our team will look to pick up three key points in Sevilla as we did in the reverse fixture – in which we won 2-0 thanks to the goals from Correa and Saúl.
