Atleti face Real Sociedad in Copa del Rey last 16
Our team looks to progress to the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. To do so, we’ll have to beat Real Sociedad away on Wednesday at 9pm CET.
Atleti gear up for a new challenge as we take on Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey round of 16. The one-legged tie is to be played at the Reale Arena on Wednesday at 9pm CET.
Our team beat Rayo Majadahonda 5-0 in the previous round, thanks to the goals from Cunha, Lodi, Suárez, Griezmann and João Félix. We’ll now look to secure a spot in the quarterfinals, but to do so we’ll have to beat Real Sociedad at their stadium. A tough feat – considering the hosts have earned five wins and five draws in their last 13 LaLiga and Europa League matches at the Reale Arena.
Imanol Alguacil’s side have already played three rounds in the Copa del Rey – beating Panadería Pulido (4-0), Zamora (3-0) and Leganés (3-2) in the process.
This will be the second time we face Real Sociedad this season, after the 2-2 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano on Oct. 24. That night, we came back from a two-goal deficit thanks to a second-half Luis Suárez brace. We last played in San Sebastián on Dec. 22, 2020, when we won 2-0 thanks to the goals from Hermoso and Llorente.
