Atleti earned three important points on Saturday as our team beat Athletic Club 2-0. Saúl and Morata were the goalscorers at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The away side had a good chance early on, but the header was saved in superb style by Oblak. Our team reacted well and started to move the ball around and attack the visitors. Through this came several chances, including one penalty call by Lemar that was dismissed. We didn’t slow down as the game progressed, and just as we approached the half-hour mark Saúl put us in the lead. The Spaniard finished an excellent play from Correa. The Argentine had a good chance to score not long after but couldn’t hit the target.
Morata almost connected with a cross from Koke in the opening minutes of the second half. The same two protagonists were even closer to scoring shortly thereafter, as a corner from our captain was headed just wide by our number 9. And it was Morata who doubled our lead following a fantastic team play between Trippier, Koke and Correa. The Argentine assisted the Spaniard, who just had to push the ball into the back of the net. Our team held on to the two-goal lead after that to pick up three important points.
