Atleti earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Valencia on Saturday on the road.

The first chance of the game came 13 minutes in as Lemar struck it with the right foot and forced Jaume to make a fine save. It wouldn’t be the last save the keeper made. Lemar tried his luck again later on, this time with the left foot, and Jaume made an even bigger save to deny the Frenchman – who was very active and completed an excellent opening 45’. Our last chance of the first half came through Correa, but the Valencia keeper made another big save. Nonetheless, our team played well and was constantly on the ball.

Joao Félix came on for Lodi at half-time, and Atleti kept pushing. Lemar had yet another chance early on following a cross from Llorente. Carrasco, Vitolo and Kondogbia came on in the following minutes for Saúl, Correa and Lemar. We kept pushing but weren’t able to create as many chances as in the opening 45’. However, with 10’ to go, we finally found the breakthrough via an own goal following a cross from Carrasco. Our persistence paid off and Atleti are not unbeaten in the last 25 games.
