Atleti earned an epic, key win on Sunday as we beat Osasuna 2-1. Lodi and Suárez scored our goals in the final minutes.
Suárez had the first big chance of the game following a fantastic start from our players. The Uruguayan’s close-range strike was saved by Sergio Herrera. The same happened not long after, as the keeper saved Suárez’s left-foot shot. The Uruguayan kept collecting chances and soon hit the post from inside the box. We kept pushing, but the visitors’ goalkeeper kept answering. His next big save was to deny Correa, who volleyed the ball powerfully from inside the box. We had yet another massive chance before the break as Saúl hit a fantastic strike from way out that struck the post.
There were no substitutions at half-time and the game continued in the same way. Atleti kept attacking but Osasuna resisted. Savic did find the back of the net, but it was disallowed after a VAR review due to offside. We kept pushing and Correa had another chance, which was saved by Herrera. Simeone decided to make a double substitution after 66’ as Lodi and Joao Félix came on for Hermoso and Saúl. Our team scored again shortly thereafter but the goal was once again disallowed due to offside. Despite our countless chances, Osasuna scored in their first chance of the game as Oblak got his hand to Budimir’s header but the ball had just crossed the line. But Atleti never give up and Lodi equalised with a powerful strike following a fantastic assist from Joao Félix. With the energy boost, we pushed even harder… and Luis Suárez scored the winner in stoppage time to send our team into delirium.
The LaLiga title will be decided on the final match day when we face Valladolid.
