Our team earned a 1-0 win against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday. Griezmann was once again the goalscorer in a game in which Diego Costa and Savic returned following their injuries.
Atleti earned a 1-0 away win on Saturday in the derby against Rayo Vallecano thanks to a second half goal from Griezmann.
We enjoyed a strong start to the game, as Saúl headed the ball just over the crossbar two minutes into the match. Five minutes later, Morata also had a chance to score with his head, but the keeper saved it. Rayo gradually started to get on the ball and create a few chances, mainly through Embarba, but Oblak was there to deny the Rayo winger.
Our team had a great chance less than 10 minutes before half-time. Filipe Luis crossed the ball from inside the box but no one was able to make contact. The first half-ended shortly thereafter.
Our team kicked off the second half with more energy and intensity, looking to take the lead. Players such as Correa had chances to score. At around the hour mark, Simeone decided to make a double substitution: Diego Costa and Lemar came on for Vitolo and Correa. The Brazilian striker returned following the operation he had in his left foot in early December. The hunger of our number 19 could be felt from the second he came on, creating difficulties for the home side's defence.
But it was after around 75 minutes when our team finally took the lead. The goalscorer was Griezmann once again, with Morata providing the assist. The two almost switched roles shortly thereafter, but the ball from the Frenchman was intercepted just before it reached the Spaniard.
The match ended a few minutes later as our team took the three points at the Estadio de Vallecas.
