Atleti earned a big and important away win on Sunday as we beat Cádiz 4-1. Lemar, Griezmann, Correa and Cunha provided the goals at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.

Our team started the game well. We applied high press and were quick to get the ball back. That allowed us to create problems for the hosts’ defenders and create a few chances. The biggest was from Suárez, who struck over the crossbar with his left foot from close range. During the first half, Giménez was forced to leave the pitch as a precaution due to discomfort and was replaced by Felipe. We eventually reached half-time with the score at 0-0.

Atleti collected several chances in the opening minutes of the second half. Felipe and Savic both had headers that could have given us the lead – the first was wide, and the second was saved by Ledesma. But we eventually found our goal through Lemar. Carrasco provided an excellent cross and the Frenchman headed home in the 56th minute. Our No. 11 had another massive chance shortly thereafter, but he was unable to convert the one on one as Ledesma made a big save to deny him.

We kept pushing, looking to double our lead… and we did so in the 70th minute. Llorente provided the assist and Griezmann scored with his right foot. Simeone made a double change shortly after that, as Correa and Cunha came on for Lemar and Suárez. Soon came our third and final goal of the night – and what a goal it was. A fantastic move by Griezmann, Cunha and Correa was finished by the Argentine to make it 3-0.

The final few minutes were crazy. First, Cádiz pulled one back from a deflected cross that saw the ball somehow end up in the back of the net. But Cunha answered right back with a powerful strike to make it 4-1 as Atleti picked up an important three points on the road.
