Atleti earn 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou

Our team drew against Barcelona on Tuesday thanks to a Saúl brace from the penalty spot.

Atleti earned a 2-2 draw against Barcelona on Tuesday as Saúl struck twice from the penalty spot at the Camp Nou.

Our team was inches away from scoring early on, as Carrasco delivered a fantastic cross and Costa was inches away from making contact. The ball flew just wide of the post. However, the hosts took the lead in an unfortunate play for our defence as Diego Costa deflected the ball into Oblak’s goal following a corner. Atleti reacted in style and Carrasco won a penalty following a sensational solo run. Ter Stegen saved at first, but he was off his line, so it was retaken by Saúl and the Spaniard equalised.

Barcelona were awarded a penalty just after the break, which Messi converted. Costa had the chance to equalise not long after, but his header was just wide. But we kept pushing, and Carrasco won yet another penalty just after one hour into the clash when he was tripped inside the box. Saúl scored once again to even the score. Simeone decided to make his frist substitutions in the following minutes, as Joao Félix and Morata came on for Llorente and Costa. Correa and Carrasco made way for Lemar and Vitolo with just over five minutes to go. The Frenchman had a good chance to score in stoppage time, but the game ultimately ended 2-2 at the Camp Nou.
