Atleti earned a 1-0 win against Levante on Sunday. Griezmann scored the winner from the penalty spot.
Our team started the game with high intensity and attacking the away side. However, we suffered a setback early on, when Savic was forced to leave the game through injury. Giménez came on for him. After ten minutes, Koke found the back of the net, but the goal was ultimately disallowed after checking the VAR.
Atleti kept attacking, particularly down Arias' right flank, and we were close to scoring on several occasions. Vitolo and Correa were also very active during the first 45 minutes. The game, however, went into half-time with a 0-0 draw.
Koke had a good chance in the first few minutes of the second half, but his shot from inside the box, following a Vitolo cross, went just wide. But it was after ten minutes when a good play from our team resulted in a Thomas cross being blocked with the arm by a Levante player. Griezmann took the penalty and scored, putting Atleti 1-0 up. We didn't stop there, and we kept attacking throughout the rest of the game. Correa and Vitolo continued their fantastic attacking display, and the Spaniard almost scored from outside the box following a wonderful break led by the Argentine. Lemar and Kalinic came on shortly thereafter for Vitolo and Correa. Thomas had a great chance from inside the box which went inches wide, and the match ended 1-0, giving our team the first home win of 2019.
