Atleti were held to a 1-1 draw at Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday despite creating countless chances to score. Giménez got our only goal.

Our team dominated from the very beginning and the breakthrough arrived 17 minutes into the game. Herrera provided a fantastic assist and Giménez headed in style into the back of the net. It was the perfect start, but our joy didn’t last long. The referee awarded the hosts a debatable penalty and they converted. Half an hour into the clash, Correa was inches away from scoring, but his long-range shot struck the crossbar. Although we didn’t stop attacking, the score was 1-1 at half-time.

Simeone brought Koke on for Saúl after the break and our chances didn’t stop throughout the next 45’. First it was Suárez after some Joao Félix magic, but his header was off target. The Portuguese then pulled off a sensational long-range strike that was met by a great diving save by the keeper. Koke headed the ball onto the crossbar 20’ into the second half and Suárez scored the rebound, but the goal was disallowed due to the Uruguayan’s offside position. Lemar and Vitolo came on for Llorente and Correa, but Vitolo was forced to leave the pitch due to an injury shortly thereafter. Torreira was his substitute. Lodi wasn’t far from scoring with 5’ to go, but the ball once again went wide of the post. Despite all of our chances, the game ultimately finished 1-1.
