Atleti completed an epic comeback on Saturday to beat Valencia 3-2 at the Wanda Metropolitano. Cunha, Correa and Hermoso scored the late goals.

Lemar had the first attempt of the game – off target – after a strong start from our team. We attacked and applied high press. Unfortunately, the visitors took the lead in the 25th minute through Musah. Our team looked for the equaliser as we continued to dominate possession. But Valencia scored again just before half-time through Hugo Lato to double their lead. It was a tough blow, but we had 45’ to turn things around.

Simeone made his first change at half-time, when Correa came on for Lodi. Carrasco had the chance to pull one back in the opening moments of the second half – but his strike from the edge of the box was off target. We had an even bigger chance shortly thereafter, when Joao Félix provided an excellent through ball towards Suárez, but our No. 9 was unable to beat the keeper. Simeone made three further substitutions in the following minutes as Felipe, Cunha and Herrera replaced Lemar, Félix and Vrsaljko. Not long after, Atleti pulled one back through Cunha. Carrasco provided the assist. Our team started to attack constantly and Suárez almost equalised. Unfortunately, his right-foot shot from inside the box flew over the crossbar. We kept producing big chances – including a right-foot strike from Correa that was just wide. The pressure mounted, and Koke also had a header that was saved by Jaume. We kept going and found the equaliser in the 91st minute through Correa. The Wanda Metropolitano erupted as we fought for the winner… And we found it right at the very end. Hermoso made it 3-2 to complete an epic comeback in an unforgettable evening.
