Diego Costa, Saúl Ñíguez and Koke secured our Super Cup glory in Tallinn!
Nunca dejes de creer. Never give up. That’s what our boys did in the UEFA Super Cup in Tallinn. Despite being in the lead after just 49 seconds, following a brilliant goal by Diego Costa, Real Madrid turned the match around and we had to make a comeback. And we did.
Costa scored his second goal of the night in the 79th minute to bring the game level and force extra time. Our players and coaching staff huddled together before extra time kicked off and you could see they believed in winning the match.
We started extra time with a fiery passion and our players couldn’t be tamed. First, Saúl Ñíguez scored an absolute beauty of a goal in the 98th minute to turn the match around and give our team the lead for the second time in the match.
Just a few minutes later a great play ended at the feet of Koke, who sent the ball into the back of the net for our fourth goal of the night.
In the second half of extra time, we kept looking to amplify our score, defended with passion and made Atlético fans all over the world proud.
