Atleti earned a fantastic 2-0 win over Barcelona on Saturday as the Wanda Metropolitano returned to full capacity. Lemar and Suárez scored our goals.

It was a high intensity clash from the off, and our team dominated. Joao Félix, Lemar and Carrasco created problems for the visitors’ defence. The Frenchman and especially the Portuguese had two very good early chances to put us in front. It didn’t take long for the goal to arrive, though, as Lemar netted a sensational left-foot strike. Suárez provided the assist. The Uruguayan almost doubled our lead shortly thereafter after a fantastic Joao Félix through ball, but his strike went just wide of the post. However, Suárez doesn’t miss two straight chances and he soon had the chance to make up for his previous error. Lemar sent him through on goal and our No. 9 made it 2-0.

Simeone brought Trippier on for De Paul at half-time. Our team controlled the game in the second half, and we came close to scoring the third on a couple of occasions. However, Barcelona also had a few chances to cut their deficit – mainly through a Coutinho strike that was saved in style by Oblak. Griezmann and Correa came on for Suárez and Joao Félix with 20’ to go, and a few minutes later Carrasco and Hermoso made way for Felipe and Lodi. We held on to our two-goal lead to earn a fantastic win at the Wanda Metropolitano.
