Atleti earned the fourth game in as many matches thanks to a 2-1 victory against Alavés on Saturday. Saúl and Costa provided the goals at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Our team collected a couple of decent chances inside the first 15 minutes. Saúl headed the ball but was off target early on. Not long after, Joao Félix attempted a bicycle kick and was just wide of the post. The visitors then regrouped and showcased their strong defensive structure, making things hard for Simeone’s men. We did, however, have another decent chance to take the lead in the last few minutes of the first half, as Trippier crossed the ball and Giménez headed over the crossbar.

Our coach made a double substitution after the break as Llorente and Costa came on for Correa and Morata. That change had immediate positive consequences. Llorente was fouled as he progressed down the right wing, Trippier crossed the ball and Saúl headed home to put us in front. Joao Félix then made way for Carrasco and we doubled our lead with some 20 minutes to go. Llorente was brought down inside the box following a fantastic solo run and Costa converted. Alavés also scored from the penalty spot in stoppage time to make things 2-1, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Atleti from winning the fourth straight game.
