Arda Turan: 'My teammates support me a lot, we try to be like a family'
'I much prefer to provide assists than to score goals'
Arda Turan appeared before the media at a press conference. He did it with a translator, Ata, a friend who has helped him since his arrival in Madrid, having had a great match against Racing, where he participated in three of the four goals of Gregorio Manzano’s team. He started the move for the first goal of Falcao, set up the third and provided a phenomenal cross to the head of Adrian in closing stages.
Arda Turan acknowledged that 'I enjoy sharing what I have in my life. And that also affects the game. I much prefer to provide assists than to score goals. It goes with my character', after playing an important role in the two consecutive wins for Atletico Madrid against Celtic in the Europa League and against Racing Santander in La Liga.
The Turk was emphatic when asked about his stay in the capital of Spain and Atletico Madrid. He has already played four games for the red and whites and says 'I feel very good at this club. I can not promise that every game I will play very well, but I will fight in every game. I am very happy to be here and never thought that I would be integrated as quickly to Spanish football. I was surprised.'
And one of the circumstances that is helping him become more comfortable in Madrid is the group that he plays with 'My teammates are helping me a lot. We try to be like a family,' he said.
He compared the Spanish league with Turkey. Saying that the Spanish league 'has enough quality. The best players in the world are here and they play more offensively. Football is more defensive in Turkey, but I hope one day we´ll also be at the level of the Spanish League.'
