Agreement with Sevilla for the loan of Saúl
The central midfielder will play for the Andalusian club next season.
Our club has reached an agreement with Sevilla FC for the loan of Saúl Ñíguez to the Andalusian side ahead of the 2024/25 season. Both parties have also agreed on the possibility of a further extension to his time at the Seville-based club.
The Elche-born midfielder, who joined our academy during the 2008/09 season, is moving on to a new chapter at Sevilla. He has made 427 competitive appearances for the Rojiblancos, and is the player with the seventh-most appearances in an Atlético shirt. Saúl made his debut for the club on 8 March 2012 in a Europa League tie against Besiktas at the Vicente Calderón.
His long career with the Rojiblancos has included loan spells at Rayo Vallecano (2013/14) and Chelsea (2021/22). He has popped up with a host of memorable moments and goals for Atlético, including against Bayern in the semi-finals of the 2015/16 Champions League. In total, he scored 48 goals and provided 26 assists, winning two UEFA Europa League trophies (2011/12 and 2017/18), one LaLiga title (2020/21) one Copa del Rey (2012/13), one Supercopa de España (2014/15) and one UEFA Super Cup (2018/19).
Atlético de Madrid wishes Saúl all the best for this new challenge.
