Our club has reached an agreement with Dalian Professional Football Club over the transfer of Yannick Carrasco. The Belgian has signed a four-year contract and will continue at Atlético de Madrid, where he played on loan during the second half of last season. The 27-year-old was key to our third-place finish in LaLiga, netting one goal and providing four assists in 16 games and helping us to secure Champions League football for the eighth straight season.
Born on Sep. 4, 1993 in Ixelles (Belgium), the talented player made his professional debut at AS Monaco when he was 18 years old. He won the Ligue 2 in 2013 and his strong performances the following season – in which he finished third in the Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League quarterfinals – earned him the move to Atleti in 2015.
During his first spell at our club, he played 124 games on both flanks, scoring 23 goals and providing 17 assists. The Belgian scored the first hat-trick of his career at Atleti, during a 7-1 win over Granada in the 2016/17 season. In the 2017/18 winter transfer window, he joined Dalian Professional Football Club. Having returned to our club to play on loan during the second half of last season, we have now reached an agreement with the Chinese club for Carrasco to join our club permantently.
The 27-year-old has appeared 41 times for Belgium and netted six goals. He made his debut in March 2015 against Cyprus and played in the UEFA Euro 2016 and 2018 World Cup – in which his team finished third – with the Red Devils.
