MATCH PREVIEW | ATLÉTICO DE MADRID - SEVILLA

After the snowstorm, Atleti-Sevilla

Our teams hosts the Andalusian side at 9.30pm CET on Tuesday in what promises to be a spectacular clash.

After withstanding the massive snowstorm that hit Madrid during the weekend, the Wanda Metropolitano is ready to host its first game of 2021. And it’s not any other game, as Atleti gear up to take on Sevilla FC in a spectacular LaLiga fixture on Tuesday. The match is to be played at 9.30pm CET.

Simeone’s men arrive as LaLiga leaders – having picked up 38 points in 15 games. In our previous league fixture, we beat Alavés 2-1 on the road thanks to a late strike from Luis Suárez. The match we were supposed to play against Athletic Club at the weekend was postponed due to the winter storm, meaning we now have three games in hand over Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, who sit second and third in the standings, respectively.

On the other hand, Sevilla FC arrive at the Wanda Metropolitano in fifth place with 30 points and one more game played than us. They beat Real Sociedad 3-2 on Saturday in a tough clash and are now unbeaten in the last six matches. Lopetegui’s side have a good record on the road, having earned 14 points from eight games.

Both teams last met at the Wanda Metropolitano in March 2020, just before the COVID-19 crisis forced Spain to go into lockdown. The game ended 2-2 as all goals were scored in the first half.
