CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP B

AC Milan, a European powerhouse

The Italians are one of Europe’s most successful clubs with 14 continental titles.

Atleti are to face AC Milan in the Champions League group stage. They’re one of Italy’s biggest clubs and have won the second most Champions League titles – seven.

Founded in 1899, they won the first of their 18 league titles the year after. AC Milan’s trophy cabinet also boasts five Coppa Italia titles, seven Supercoppa trophies, three Intercontinental Cups, five UEFA Super Cups and two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cups.

The Italian club play their home games at San Siro, which they share with Inter Milan. The stadium was inaugurated in 1926 and hosts over 80,000 spectators. The 1970, 2001 and 2016 Champions League finals were played at the Milan stadium.

We last faced AC Milan in the 2013/14 Champions League last 16. We won 1-0 at San Siro thanks to a Diego Costa goal and 4-1 at the Vicente Calderón. Diego Costa (2), Arda Turan and Raúl García scored on the night.

Stefano Pioli’s side finished second in the 2020/21 Serie A season with 79 points.
