Goalless tie in the first leg of the European derby of the Champions League quarter-final.

The fixture began at a frantic pace at the Vicente Calderón. Both teams took the field displaying a lot of intensity and provided a great start of the match. That's how Oblak brought out a brilliant hand to a shot from inside the box by Bale, situation that would be repeated 30 minutes later after a shot from afar of the Welsh and at 36” after a placed shot from James. Griezmann, with a shot on a half turn from the top of the box that Casillas saved. With the stopwatch about to mark the end of the first half, the French attacker headed over the top a side cross from Siqueira to close the first half.

In the second half, our team appeared more solid and looked for the goal much more vigorously. As a result of this, Arda came close to scoring the first goal of the game, but his header was deflected. Already in the final stages of the match, Godín, Torres and Mario Suárez were very close to beating Casillas and in the 90th minute, Arbeloa stopped with his body a shot from Mandzukic that was heading straight for the goal.
