MATCH PREVIEW | REAL VALLADOLID – ATLÉTICO DE MADRID

90 minutes away from glory

Simeone’s men gear up for the last game of the season, in which we take on Valladolid at 6pm CET on Saturday.

An intense and thrilling season comes to an end on Saturday as Atleti fight for the LaLiga title in Valladolid. If we win at the José Zorrilla stadium, we will clinch our 11th league trophy. The game is to kick off at 6pm CET.

The LaLiga race will come down to the wire, with Simeone’s men currently on top with 83 points and Real Madrid second with 81. Our team beat Osasuna 2-1 in epic fashion in the previous game, whereas Valladolid need a win to stay in the top-flight of Spanish football.

Our record against the Castilian club is positive in recent years, having won four of our last five league fixtures at the José Zorrila stadium. The last one, however, was a goalless draw in October 2019. In the reverse fixture this season, we won 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano thanks to the goals from Lemar and Llorente.

Out of our club’s 10 LaLiga titles, nine were won in the final match day of the season. The last of which was our 2013/14 success that was won at the Camp Nou, where we drew 1-1 via a Diego Godín header.

Now, Atleti are 90’ away from a new LaLiga title. Vamos Atleti!
