IN BEER SHEVA

Atlético de Madrid and Hapoel Beer Sheva F.C. reach an agreement to open an academy in Beer Sheva

The agreement will allow the team from Israel to reinforce its youth system. Through football, two cultures will learn from one another.

Alona Barkat, Hapoel Beer Sheva F.C.’s president, Idan Ofer, majority shareholder of Quantum Pacific Group and shareholder of Atlético de Madrid, and Miguel Ángel Gil, CEO of Atlético de Madrid, accompanied by Emilio Gutiérrez, director of Atlético de Madrid’s academy, presented this Sunday in Beer Sheva an agreement between our academy and Hapoel Beer Sheva F.C. A new academy base will reinforce the Israeli club’s youth system, which will allow Hapoel Beer Sheva to increase the amount of youth players in the first team.

This long-term project will allow the members from our academy to implement the Atlético way in Beer Sheva. This will also allow us to interchange cultures through football and share our values with Hapoel Beer Sheva F.C., such as hard work, teamwork and never giving up.

“Atlético de Madrid is one of the best teams in the world. For many years, they’ve been raising academy players in a great way,” Barkat said. “I’m positive this alliance with [Atlético’s] academy will help us keep growing.”

Ofer is also happy and proud of the agreement.

“[I’m proud] to have taken a part In putting the two clubs in contact with each other,” he said. “This will be a successful project.”

Ofer also spoke about the boys and their football coach trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand and wished for a speedy exit for them all.

On the other hand, our CEO Miguel Ángel Gil , spoke about the importance of transmitting Atlético de Madrid’s values.

“The main objective is that this academy is open to people of all religions and cultures,” he said. “We want to integrate everyone through a common project, based on the values of sport.”

Hapoel Beer Sheva F.C., champion of the last three editions of the Israeli Premier League and its president Barkat wish to keep on insuring that Beer Sheva is a city open for everyone and all cultures.
