Will the new stadium have a running track?

Today we open a new section to present one of the issues that most interests our fans. Our first 'You Ask’ focuses on the distance between the field and the stands in the new facility.

Security, visibility, and comfort

When the club faced the location of the fans at the new stadium, there were three main objectives: safety, comfort, and visibility. We wanted all the Atléticos to feel part of the game and that involved trying to get them as close as possible to the playing field. 

Logically, in this approach, a running track has no place. Quite the opposite. We tried to make the first rows of each sector to be closer to the pitch than in the Vicente Calderón. The results will be very obvious. 

In every position, the fans will have the opportunity to live the match closer than at the Calderón

The closest point to the white line will be, precisely, in the northwest corner where the stands are just 5.89 meters away from the playing field. It will thus be the same as at our present stadium, where that is also the closest point to the field. 

In all the seats, the fans will have the opportunity to live the match closer, except in the west side, in which the distances will be similar to the Calderon's.

Thus, for viewers in the north end of the new stadium, the distance will range between the aforementioned 5,89 metres of the nearest point and the 9.95 meters of the farthest one. This distance is considerably reduced with respect to that of the Calderón, which varies from 10.72 meters up to 16.15 meters. And the same will happen to those who are in the south end, where the separation is reduced by approximately 5 meters.

In the case of the viewers that are located in the east side, they will have a distance that will vary from 6.07 meters up to 9.95 meters, in contrast to the current separation of the lawn of the Calderón, which ranges from 10.72 to 13.46 meters. The improvement will be evident in all cases.
