The match began strong at San Mamés, thanks to our team’s first goal on three minutes. Athletic was surprised but tried to recover as time went by. Raúl García made trouble for Moyá in the 18th and Carrasco almost scored the 0-2 but his shot was cleared at the half hour point. And, in 42’, the tie came with a play from Lekue.
After the break, De Marcos put Athletic ahead after Raúl García's cross. Simeone decided to put Torres, Gaitán and Correa into the game, almost at the same time, to turn the match around. And the truth is that Atlético’s presence was noted in the Basque area until Griezmann's brilliant goal tied the game. A result that did not change despite the attempts, especially ours, which surrounded Athletic’s goal until the end without succeeding in scoring the third goal.
