The premiere of the season at the Vicente Calderón held a vibrant match between a dominating Atlético and an Alavés that tried to surprise on the counter-attack. Watch the highlights here.

Up to four clear chances of our players in the first half: first by Tiago and Koke, with saves from the white and blue keeper; Gameiro, on his debut, sent out another shot; and the clearest chance, from Carrasco, who crashed his shot on the post.

The second half was just like the first. As the minutes went by, the domain of our team was getting more and more suffocating for the team from Vitoria. The substitutions allowed the team to refresh, with Gaitán making his debut, Correa, and Fernando Torres. The red and white '9' crashed on the post again halfway through this half. In the final stretch, Pacheco saved a clear goal to a shot from Gameiro, two times. And Atlético’s siege had its reward in the end when the Frenchman scored to a penalty on Torres. There was no time, but in the last play of the match, Alavés tied with the first shot on goal of the team from Vitoria.
