Simeone: "We need a rocking atmosphere at the Wanda Metropolitano"
Before our Europa League semi-final match against Arsenal at the Wanda Metropolitano, Diego Pablo Simeone and Diego Godín spoke to the press.
On Thursday, our side will face Arsenal at the Wanda Metropolitano for the return leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-final. Diego Godín, our second captain, spoke to the press along with Diego Pablo Simeone to analyze the match.
"Tomorrow, we need our fans’ support. That they live and experience the match as if they were one of us," That’ll be a great push for us. We need the stadium to be a party."
Godín knows how important it is to keep Arsenal at bay at the Wanda Metropolitano.
"I'm expecting a similar and even match," Godín continued. "They're going to come out looking to score, but we're going to try to be very united, direct and convincing."
Simeone agrees with Godín and expects a tough Arsenal at the Wanda Metropolitano.
"Arsenal have great players, a great coach and lots of players who attack through the lines," he said. "They're very fast in the final metres of the pitch and Montreal and Bellerín add a great presence on the wings. Lacazette is a fantastic player. He has good movements and is good in the air."
Our boss greatly respects Arsenal and knows Thursday's match will be challenging.
"They have creative players," he said. "To get this far [in the Europa League], you have to be a good side and it's obvious Arsenal are that.
Simeone expects the fans at the Wanda Metropolitano to cheer the team on non-stop.
"I said it after the match in London, we need a rocking atmosphere at the Wanda Metropolitano," "We need our fans to transmit us excitement and positive energy."
