Simeone: "We expect a tough, competitive Champions League match"
Our coach and captain spoke ahead of the last Champions League Group Stage game, in which we are to face Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel stadium.
Simeone spoke on Monday about the following day's match against Club Brugge, a team which the Argentine considers to be well coached by manager Ivan Leko.
"They are a very competitive, well-organised team. Even though they've had a few negative results in their league, one month ago they were competing in the best way possible," our coach said.
Our coach claimed that the Belgian club's decline in form was due to the team's recent fitness issues.
"They've had a few injuries, which I'm sure has affected the recent results, but we expect a difficult Champions League match, in which everyone wants to win and position themselves in Europe," Simeone said.
Godín spoke about his recent injury, from which he recently recovered.
"I feel well and recovered. Injuries are normal in football and we've had several in defence by chance. The team responded well," our captain said.
The Uruguayan praised Club Brugge ahead of Tuesday's game.
"They play well as a team. They compete well and know what they're about. It's a Champions League match and I expect them to compete well, like they did at the Wanda Metropolitano," Godín said.
