Simeone: "The team wants to keep fighting"
Our coach and Godín spoke after the defeat in Bilbao.
Simeone spoke after Saturday's match against Athletic Club.
"Both teams struggled in the first half. The second half was different. We attacked, showed that we wanted to win the match and had chances to do so, but they were more clinical in the chances that they had," our coach said.
The Argentine also analysed our team's situation in the league.
"We're used to fighting and competing. I think we're well-positioned in LaLiga after seven months and we have to continue until the end," Simeone said.
Godín claimed that details had decided the match.
"There weren't many chances throughout the game and details decided it. The first goal was decisive and we weren't able to turn things around," our captain said.
The Uruguayan also spoke about the team's current situation.
"We're hurt because we weren't the Atlético de Madrid of these last years. We were unable to compete like we usually do. I think that the fans felt the same way. You can lose, but we lost without competing in the way that we've done the last eight years. Atlético de Madrid fans are always there for us, in the good times and the bad times. We want to thank the fans who came to Turin for supporting us," Godín said.
