Jan Oblak, Atlético’s new goalkeeper, has been presented at noon this Tuesday 22nd in the VIP lounge of the Vicente Calderon Stadium. The Club’s President, Enrique Cerezo, and the Sporting Manager, José Luis Pérez Caminero, presented the Slovenian with the shirt that he’ll defend for the next six seasons. Clemente Villaverde, Board Member and Managing Director of Atlético, and Andrea Berta, Technical Manager were also present at the event.
The goalkeeper was very happy for his signing with Atlético de Madrid and stressed that he only thinks of working and helping the team because he recalled that what’s important is the group. "I only think in training and working. I just started training with the team. I'm not the only goalkeeper and we can all be permanent players. Of course, I’ll do everything in my hand to work. But what’s important is the team above individuals", he commented.
"I’ll do everything in my power to defend this shirt and achieve great results this season"
Defending the red and white shirt is a great challenge for Oblak, and his expectations are enormous. "I don’t come to replace anyone. I come as another player. I'm here along with the rest of the players and goalkeepers. I’ll do everything in my power to defend this shirt and achieve great results this season. I will do everything in my hand to help the team".
Enrique Cerezo, President of the Club, welcomed Jan Oblak and wanted to point out that the Slovenian goalkeeper "Meets the profile to bolster a team that wants to keep growing and achieve new goals". At the same time, he noted that the Club’s objective is to look for "Players committed to the Club and a project that began a few years ago. Young players who grow together with other players from Atlético’s farm team" and for the President, Oblak is one of them.
