THE GOAL:
0-1. 73’. Griezmann wins a ball from the defence after a shot by Saúl to beat Diego López with a low shot.

An evenly-matched first half between Espanyol and Atlético de Madrid with alternate control and few chances to score. The clearest was for ours team with Carrasco's shot from outside the area that Diego López cleared fifteen minutes in. Diego Pablo Simeone’s team was good defending, with Giménez in the right side, and with the ball moving fast when it was in red and white possession.

In the second half, Simeone substitute Torres with Thomas to strengthen the midfield and, a little later, with Gameiro on the pitch, to go for the win. The play worked because the team improved and controlled the game. This is how the play for the goal came to be, with a shot by Saúl from the top and Griezmann made the most of the clearance and the Frenchman succeeded in scoring the first goal. Espanyol responded and Baptistao had an excellent chance that Oblak avoided with a great save. Great win for Atlético, which continues winning points. It has been 12 consecutive games without losing, between the League and the Champions.
