Griezmann, chosen Player of the EURO 2016

His six goals and two assists throughout the tournament allowed France to reach the final.

Antoine Griezmann continues collecting awards in recognition of his great performance in the EURO 2016, and this Monday he was named Player of the Tournament. A prize awarded by the technical team of UEFA observers and that adds to the Golden Boot of the tournament, that our striker won thanks to the six goals and two assists reaped. 

"Antoine Griezmann was a threat in every game he played. He works hard for his team and possesses technique, vision and quality finishing. The technical observers were in unanimous agreement that he was the tournament's outstanding player," UEFA chief technical officer Ioan Lupescu said on the official web of the Championship.

The French striker played all of France’s matches in the 2016 European Championship, where he played a total of 555 minutes. In the first phase, against Albania, he scored on 90 minutes and in the qualifying round, he scored two goals for the 'bleus' to comeback against the Republic of Ireland in the last 16. In the quarter-finals, he also scored against Iceland and in the semi-finals he scored the two goals that beat Germany.  

He was also included in the EURO 2016 Team of the Tournament, completed by the goalkeeper Rui Patrício (Portugal); defenders Joshua Kimmich (Germany), Jerome Boateng (Germany), Pepe (Portugal) and Raphael Guerreiro (Portugal); midfielders Toni Kroos (Germany) and Joe Allen (Wales); and forwards Aaron Ramsey (Wales), Dmitri Payet (France) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal).  

In addition to the aforementioned Ioan Lupescu, the panel of UEFA’s technical observers also include Sir Alex Ferguson, Alain Giresse, David Moyes, Packie Bonner, Mixu Paatelainen, Savo Milošević, Peter Rudbæk, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Schaaf, Jean-François Domergue, Ginés Meléndez and Jean-Paul Brigger.
