The first semi-final of the Carranza Trophy had a brilliant start. Cádiz tried to surprise in a counter and Salvi had the best chance of the yellow team in the 3-minute mark of the first half, but his shot crashed on the right post of Bernabé. The response was swift and Torres tested Cifuentes with a header saved by the keeper. The goal by Carrasco that opened the scoring came before the first fifteen minutes were over. A foul kicked by Caio was headed by Augusto to the post and the Belgian sent the parried ball to the net.

In the second half, the domain was ours though Bernabé had to intervene with success when a ball was jumbled in the area on 73 minutes. It was a scare that ended with a home goal after a dubious penalty for an alleged handball from Saúl scored by David Sánchez. Then, in the penalty shootout, Cádiz fought for its place in the final by winning 3-2.
