Bayer 04 Leverkusen: Leno; Hilbert, Jedvaj, Dragovic, Wendell; Bellarabi, Baumgartlinger, Kampl, Brandt (Bailey, 78’); Chicharito (Mehmedi, 81’) and Volland (Aranguiz, 88’).

Referee: Sergei Karasev (Russia). Booked the home players Giménez (66’) and Nico Gaitán (89’); and the visiting Jedvaj (64’) and Baumgartlinger (71’).

Atlético de Madrid qualified for the Champions quarter-finals for the fourth consecutive season. The victory in Leverkusen by 2-4 was critical in the qualifier because there were no goals at the Calderón. Among other things, because the finishes of our players went just wide of the posts and Bayer Leverkusen found a wall in Oblak.

Atlético and Bayer Leverkusen took the field with the aim to score but the clear chances to score were for Koke, twice, and once for Correa, which were saved by Leno. In the second half, the chances came from two plays by Correa and Griezmann, that went just wide of the posts. Then, it was the turn for the German team, but they found the figure of Oblak, making a great save in a spectacular play in the 68th with three saves to a shot from Brandt and two from Volland. Later, it was Bellarabi and Wendell who once again found a wall in the Slovenian keeper.
