Goalless tie thanks to the superb performances of both keepers. Oblak saved two finishes and Diego Lopez cleared four very dangerous red and white efforts.

Atlético de Madrid: Oblak; Juanfran, Giménez, Godín, Filipe Luis; Tiago (Gaitán, 68’), Gabi, Koke, Carrasco (Correa, 70’); Gameiro (Saúl, 83’) and Griezmann.

Espanyol: Diego López; Víctor Sánchez, David López, Diego Reyes, Aarón; Diop, Jurado, Javi Fuego, Piatti (Hernán Pérez, 55’); Gerard (Caicedo, 77’) and Leo Baptistao (Salva Sevilla, 75’).

Referee: Jaime Latre (Committee from Aragón). Booked the home players Koke (30’) and Godín (88’); and the visiting Diop (23’) and Gerard (75’).

Atlético de Madrid crashed against a wall. Espanyol defended the draw and had two chances in the counterattack that Oblak saved, one in every half. Atlético had the ball and the game’s control at all time, but could not beat Diego López, who cleared the efforts from Koke and Gabi in the first half and those from Gabi and Griezmann in the second half.

A tie that wasn’t enough, especially because the team did its best in the second half to win the three points, closing Espanyol in its field in the final stretch of the match. Now, we have to think about Tuesday’s match against Bayern, which closes a Group Stage of an impeccable Champions so far, with five wins in as many games played.
