Telefónica becomes the Wanda Metropolitano's technology provider

Telefónica and the club have reached an agreement, which will see Telefónica become the technology provider of the Wanda Metropolitano.

Telefónica and Atlético de Madrid have reached an agreement, which will see Telefónica become the technology provider of the Wanda Metropolitano. Thanks to the telecommunication company's technology, the stadium will become the first in Europe to be 100 percent IP.

Telefónica will provide the Wanda Metropolitano with all the necessary communications and connectivity infrastructure. All related facilities such as the integral control panel, scoreboards, 360° ribbon board (first in Spain), elevators, security (access control inside the stadium, closed circuit TV, cameras), audiovisual production rooms and more.

The installation of this technology is already underway and this far, Telefónica has set up an IAN network, wifi with more than 6000 network outlets, 1500 Wi-Fi hotspots, 1000 kilometers of fiber, almost 500 kilometers of UTP cable, two data centres, 84 network nodes, MacroLAN double access of up to 10 symmetric GB, a switching and transmission equipment. 


The Wanda Metropolitano's security requirements include an access control system that covers more than 300 internal doors, its integration with the stadium's fire and evacuation systems, closed circuit television with more than 120 cameras and the anti-intrusion system of the entire stadium, all controlled from the central security control, which will be provided by Telefónica.
